This is a real page, not a picture. Every control on the left changes it live.

Lesson 01 · the funnel

A website is not a brochure. It's a hallway with doors.

A brochure lists what a company has. A funnel walks somebody from "who are you" to "here's my email" without them noticing they moved. Every section has exactly one job, and the job is to earn the next scroll.

  1. Hook — what you do, in one line, for the right person. If a stranger can't tell in three seconds, they leave.
  2. Proof — why believe you. For your dad that's PrimusGFS, USDA, Kosher, peanut-free. Boring paperwork is his best weapon.
  3. Fit — help them find themselves. That's the three routes. People buy faster when a page seems to already know them.
  4. How it works — remove the fear of the unknown. Four steps beats a promise.
  5. Ask — one clear thing to do, repeated. Never two competing buttons.

Lesson 02 · how many sections

Five to seven. Then stop.

Fewer than five and you haven't earned trust yet. More than seven and people stop scrolling before the ask, so the extra sections cost you money instead of making it.

Test: cover a section with your hand. If the page still works without it, delete it. That one habit will make you better than most professionals.

Lesson 03 · what people actually want

Nobody cares about the company. They care about their own problem.

A buyer landing here is nervous about four things: can you run my product, are you certified, can you handle my volume, and when. Answer those four fast and you've beaten every competitor still talking about their "passion for quality".

Watch for the word "we" — if a sentence starts with it, try flipping it to "you". "We offer rapid prototyping" becomes "You hold the pack before you commit." Same fact. Completely different feeling.

Lesson 04 · how you close

Make the next step smaller than they expect.

"Contact us" is a big scary door — it means a phone call with a salesman. "Four questions" is a small door. Small doors get walked through.

And ask for the things that make the reply useful: product, volume, timing, certifications. Then the first answer back is a real yes or no instead of "thanks for your interest". Speed of a useful reply beats almost everything else in sales.

Lesson 05 · the honest part

You can only design what's true.

Every fact on this page came off your dad's real site. Nothing was made up to look better. That matters more than it sounds: the moment a page promises something the business can't do, the design has cost him a customer instead of winning one.

Good design isn't decorating a claim. It's making a true thing impossible to miss.
